What
is
Co-operative Advertising?
C
o-op
advertising is a shared cost promotion between a manufacturer
and their retailer/s.
Manufacturers often provide
their approved stockists with advertising and editorial
materials to help them promote themselves locally. Many will
also re-imburse some of the advertising costs for pre-agreed
co-op advertising with their retailers. This support is
usually based on the merit of the promotion and the turnover
of the retailer.
The main activity of co-op advertising
is to successfully underpin national brand marketing activity
and combine it with the strengths of independent retailers in
the local / local marketplace. The main objective of co-op
advertising is to help increase the sales of brand names
products locally / locally via local media.
Co-op ads are
mainly carried by local newspapers, radio, outdoor, transport
(Bus/Taxi) and cinema, although retailers can use funds for
other types of marketing activity in agreement with the
manufacturer.
